Theodora (Mitsotakis) Bakoyannis was Greek Foreign Minister between 2006 and 2009. This was the highest post ever held by a lady in the history of Greece, and she was also the Chairperson-in Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 2009. Previously she had served as the first and ever female mayor of Athens between 2003 and 2006, during which Athens hosted the Olympic Games, and she was renowned as the first woman mayor of the city hosting the Olympics. She had earlier been the Minister of Culture between 1992 and 1993. Ms. Bakoyannis, who is currently a member of the Greek Parliament, has visited Turkey several times while in office. This time, she is coming to Ankara as the honorary guest of Atılım University.
